Ciao,
Yellow neckband with code (1 letter and 2 numbers).
Thomas Heinicke, Chausseestr. 1, D-18581 Vilmnitz, Germany.
note 1 : This project continues former neckbanding activities of the former „Forschungstelle für Ökologie der Wasservögel“ at the Postdam university in Eastern Germany and was restarted in 2007. The new project will mainly study the origin and migration pattern of Greylags at recently established moulting sites in Eastern Germany.
note 2 : Used neckbands have the same design like the European Greater White-fronted and Bean Goose project (1 letter and in 270° two numbers). Currently, the letters “N” and “H” are in use.
note 3 : 33 birds have been ringed in June 2007 at lake Nonnensee, a moulting site on the island Ruegen, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Of them, 13 Greylags (3 adults, 10 juveniles) belong to the local breeding population, whereas the other 20 individuals are moult visitors. In June 2008, another 139 birds (mostly moult visitors) were neckbanded at the same site.
ciao
