Hi Andrea, Thanks for your email with the two Pluvialis photos. Well, it certainly is "something interesting", I think. At least it is not apricaria. The impression I gain from these photographs is that it looks more like fulva than dominica, and if I was feeling very optomistic I might try to create a case for identifying it as such. However, looking at it more critically, I don't think I can see anything in this bird that is absolutely diagnostic of fulva and I guess practically every feature could be matched by dominica. I think I'd like to see photos of slightly better quality, and some kind of a profile view before I could confidently make a case for specific identification. In a case like this I don't think a 'c90% certain' case, based on an assessment of less reliable identification characters (leg length, bill size, head patternm supercilium and upperparts colour) would be good enough for acceptance. I assume you have supplied us with the best
photoographs available, but if any more become available I'd be happy to see them.
All the best, Killian

Ciao!
Also for me some additional photos would do well.. But if there were any "Occhiato-quality" shots available it would probably not be a mystery plover for very long...
If I had to put a bet right now I would go for fulva... Very little trace of black on the flanks and the absent white "bra" may not be so good for dominica..
Saluti!
/Hans
